Everyone knew what it meant
When God put in place this covenant:
“That in future there would no more be
A Flood like what this Earth did see”
The rainbow marked God’s seal & sign
That His Word would hold and be forever mine
So covenants, I thought, were supposed to last
But I’ve never seen God pull one so fast!
His sense of humor takes the cake
Although He did it for our namesake
He kept His Word to all on Earth…
That is, until our Savior’s birth!
Then for 33 years He rained on us
A Flood of Love
That was Christ Jesus
Relief from Sin
Did this flood provide
Filled the gap that was the Great Divide
Though His covenant spelled relief from flood
Our real relief is Jesus’ Blood
And forever sealed since Easter morn
Is the Covenant New, for those reborn!
Now as promises go, here’s my final say:
Only God may “break” His….. any day!
